Albus's Diary

Dear Dairy,

Mum, Dad, Lily and James are outside celebrating New Year and I just slipped away from them to telling that I needed to use the loo. I’m hiding in my bed with the stone. I know it sounds like a stupid hiding place with James in the house but yes, I hid the stone under my pillow. Not following me? That’s OK. I’m really confused, too. Let me start from the beginning.

Hagrid invited me to his hut for tea and when I was walking out of the castle after Potions, I heard a voice. The voice of my screaming parents and siblings and Scorpius. I didn’t know what hit me, but I walked right to it. I walked deep into the Forest. Time flew by and I didn’t hear the voice again. I couldn’t find my way back.  As it turns out, I wandered deeper. I heard hooves. They sounded like horse’s hooves. That could mean only one reason – but—no—it couldn’t be. Centaurs. I started to run until I could see sunlight away from the darkness of the deepness of the Forest. I know—I was a git to run into the Forbidden Forest—of all places –alone. I had a headache, a stomach ache and cramps in my legs. Then I heard noises. Scared that they were hooves, I jumped onto my feet. But I suddenly recognized to be footsteps. Hagrid came  limping out the Forest’s darkness, half his face hidden. I heaved a great sigh and Hagrid asked me in his deep, kind voice, ‘Albus, yeh alrigh’?’. I nodded. Then I noticed that something was wrong.  He then ordered me to light my wand. With the light I saw Hagrid’ face. I gasped. It was covered in gashes and blood. Then I studied the rest of his body and almost fainted when I saw his left leg. No flesh, no skin it was only showing bones from waist down. All I managed to say was, ‘Madam Pomfrey’. When I came back to my senses, I asked him what happened. He mumbled something like, ‘Centaurs’. I suddenly had an urge to give the Bat-Bogey Hex to each and everyone of the centaurs  that hurt Hagrid this badly. I told him about the voices. He told that they were the stray Dementors that were in the Daily Prophet and The Quibbler. That question was answered. But the question that was coming next still isn't answered.

Me and Hagrid walked over to his cabin and I made some tea. I was curios about why he hadn’t given me an earful. When I asked him, he merely said that he understood. I said I was going to get some fresh air after half an hour or so of sipping tea and eating bread. Hagrid said that he was going to get Madam Pomfrey to mend and groaned that he was going to get scolded by her for going into the forest and getting this hurt. I felt a twinge of guilt. I cursed myself (not literally) for walking into the forest. I knew that mum and dad were safe at home and James, Lily and Scorpious were all at the castle safe and sound. I walked over to the very tip of the lake and dipped my legs into the lake, something the students hadn’t done years because the rumours stated that the giant squid was poisonous. I thought the squid was actually quite nice as when my toes touched the edge, the squid came swimming to me greeting me warmly. I gave all my leftover bread to it. It ate as though it had not had good food in quite a while. I actually patted it on the head after I gave it food. It purred as though it enjoyed it. Suddenly something sharp and hard hit my foot. I scrambled onto shore. The squid looking disappointed, sadly swam away. A rock landed ashore. The moment I touched it I knew that it wasn’t an ordinary stone. Sorry, I’ll write before bed, Lily’s calling me.

Yours Truly

Albus
